YouTube seems to be on a roll lately, as it is now adding an affordable $35 cable and satellite television package to its ever-expanding lineup of video content services. Known as “YouTube TV,” the package includes roughly 40 channels such as major networks ABC, CBS, and NBC, and access to YouTube Red, a slate of original series featuring prominent YouTube influencers. For comparison, the average cable subscriber spends an average of $85 a month. YouTube TV viewers will get personalized recommendations depending on what they watch and an app with three primary functions: live, browse, and library (DVR and VOD). At launch, the service will be available domestically in select cities.

YouTube TV is the next logical step in the platform’s plan to overtake television and should result in increased exposure for YouTube partners and influencers.
